About Dr. Su
Tien-I Karleen Su, M.D., FACR, is a board-certified rheumatologist. She went to medical school at UCLA, where she was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha — the national medical honor society reserved for the top students in a class. After UCLA, she completed her rheumatology fellowship at the Keck School of Medicine of USC.
What many patients don’t know is how much time Dr. Su spends on the other side of medicine — the policy and business questions that decide whether independent practices like Amicus can keep their doors open. That work led her to found the Rheumatology Private Practice Alliance, and over the years she has also held leadership roles with the American College of Rheumatology and the California Rheumatology Alliance.
Then there’s the research. Dr. Su has served as principal investigator on clinical studies in rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, psoriatic arthritis, osteoporosis, scleroderma, Sjögren’s syndrome, and osteoarthritis.
