EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY for pre-health candidates (pre-med & pre-PA) looking to gain in-depth and hands-on experience in a rheumatology clinic during their gap years. Our physicians (affiliated with university) and physician assistant are passionate about mentoring and teaching. Training will be provided. FULL time availability preferred.
Acceptance stats on prior pre-health students in our clinic since 2015:
PA schools: 8
Medical schools: 6
OT doctorate: 2
RN: 3

ABOUT OUR CLINIC:
We see patients with rheumatologic conditions which are often fascinating and chronic illnesses where we get to build long-lasting relationships with our patients.
You will get to learn what these conditions are and have the opportunity to build these kinds of rewarding connections with our patients.
This position is best for those with a STRONG interest to learn ALL aspects of an outpatient clinic including direct patient contact as well as administrative tasks.
A successful candidate is someone who can multi-task and adapt to changes quickly, enjoys learning opportunities, is compassionate towards patients, takes initiatives, and possesses high integrity.
For pre-med and pre-PA candidates with minimal clinical experience, since training requires longer time, applications will be considered only to those able to commit to the position for at least 1 year full-time (2 years or more are preferred)

REQUIREMENTS
Great attendance records in prior employment
Bachelor's degree from 4 year college
Fast and accurate typist
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred but training will be provided
Ability to multi-task
Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills
Strong work ethics and a drive to do the best they can
The ability to comfortably working with a diverse team
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to follow directions consistently in order to complete tasks successfully
Ability and desire to learn new tasks in a short amount of time

Major Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
Back office duties: Room patients (obtain vital signs and reason for visit, and document symptoms), prepare charts for patients visits, communicate with pharmacies and other physician offices to coordinate patient care, help maintain tidiness and cleanliness throughout the office, restock supplies in exam rooms, provide subQ injections and injection teaching to patients, and other duties as assigned by supervisor
Front office/administrative duties: Answer phones, greeting patients at check-in and check-out, address patient requests and inquiries, schedule appointments, file medical records, process insurance issues (i.e. verifications and authorizations), and other duties as assigned by supervisor
There may be opportunities for medical scribing. Medical scribe duties: Accurately document outpatient medical visits under the supervision of physicians, including clinical history, laboratory/study results, proofread detailed materials and summarize according to physician instructions, multi-task between accurate documentation and administrative duties as assigned.
